There are many different artists who have decided to sell their talents in the wargaming industry.. and in a GOOD way. I'm talking artistically specifically through painting. There have been a few "shady" ones (Blue Table Painting) and a few high-end talents that come through as a business properly with a mix of others scattered in between.
This thread will showcase 'Den of Imagination' as they have, through their years in business, help inspire me to paint better and think creatively. Their YouTube painting videos are, in my opinion, well done and has great lighting and next to no jerkiness making the video a pleasant one to view.
Here's what they say on their homepage:
'Den of Imagination is a Miniature Painting Service that has been in line of work since 2008. Over the years we specialized in large orders - big units, regiments, armies, we even did once a part of a whole Space Marines Chapter! We mainly get orders for models from Warhammer franchise but we also did Flames of War, Infinity, historical and many others.
We are credible, solid and reliable. We work best with large commissions and we guarantee fast service.
In 2008 we've started to take small commissions as a side work. These were small orders mostly for our friends and colleagues. Over the years the commissions kept coming from all over the world and we've decided to open a professional Painting Studio. Since then several talented painters and sculptors came to work, learn and improve with us. All of our experience gained over the years is yours to take!'
And their work is very impressive!
They have 6 different levels of painting service. Most of their projects were painted on level 4 "Elite". You can customize your army and have half painted in different level or just your characters for example on level 5 and the rest on level 3.
Here's their level 4 ELITE prices as of this article:
And what about those tutorials I mentioned earlier? Well.. I've watched quite a few. Easy to understand and follow though you'll need some basic to moderate paint brush skill to do some of these. I'd recommend them if you're an intermediate level painter that needs the order of doing things and which paints to use while the technique has already been practiced and/or has a level of understanding.
Here's a couple of their tutorials on painting the Lions of Sigmar model for the new Warhammer AoS game and Ruined Temple Bases:
So what IS their painting skills? What can one expect from a level 6 commission?
Well.. how about 40 HOURS on one single model! Add to that complete free-hand painting on many areas of that model and a very decorative base! Check out some of these level 6 commissions:
And here's a few more of other commission levels:
And as you can see, they don't JUST do Warhammer models.. From Infinity to Planetfall, X-Wing to Malifaux.. if it's a model, they'll do it! Including terrain!
So in closing, I'd like to ad that I do not own any Den of Imagination painted models though I do hope to in the future. What I also hope is that my own personal painting skill gets very inspired by these wonderful artistic works.
