Every once in a while I come across some very cool game room designs and ideas. This one happened by chance as I was checking out Monkplayer's BarterTown member's IMGUR account for over 200 D&D miniatures he has for sale. THIS was his other album!
He totally remodeled a former kids bedroom into an "authentic" looking 13th century tavern with hidden game room!
So.. this is what the room looked prior and while his daughter was still occupying it:
(The following are taken from his album and thus his own words.)
16'X18" room with two closets.
Don't worry about my daughter, she got a car and X-Box, as an incentive to move in the smaller guest room.
1-2 months in the remodeling phase.
6-8 months into the remodeling.
And to finish:
13th Century European Medieval Tavern
After 1 year the room is completely finished! We celebrated by starting the 15 month game session with a medieval feast!
Notice the medieval nails holding up the curtains, and sword holds in the curtain!
LOOK BELOW a couple of more pictures to see the secret compartments in the table! You WILL BE drooling!
Wall sconce
Here's the closet:
Tavern Table Top
Your looking at a actual 13th century game called Merels.
Senet Medieval Game
This is the second of the two medieval games that were played in Eurpore during the 13th Century.
Chairs , Dice Trays, and Cup Holders
Game Master Chair with removable back support and no heraldry.
Medieval Feast Gear with Wooden bowls, metal plates, and hand forged cutlery.
Mugs, Water Skin, and Jugs
The gamers LOVE drinking out of the cups!
Note the wax I dripped on the sconce to give it realism. The wax portion of the lamp is actually stone marble.
Here's the AC Vent. It was custom made to look like an actual 13th century sewage gate!
These weapons, like the helmet & swords too, are made in the same hand forged process as weapons during the 13th century. These weapons were also made to match actual weapons used during this time too! Where you surprised that the war hammer is smaller than what you see on movies?
These swords, like the helmet , axe, & hammer, are made in the same hand forged process as weapons during the 13th century. These weapons were also made to match actual weapons used during this time too! Look closely, do the see the wear on the pommels?
One of the most striking thin about the room is that you don't see any modern elements when walking into the room. This is why the wall outlets are covered with leather straps.
Can you see the melted wax below the floor under the two candles on the right wall? Did you notice that the floor & Ceiling planks are much wider than the wall paneling? This matches the base design elements of a European 13th Century Tavern.
And NOW... for the "SECRET" part of the game table!!
Here is a clear picture of the inside of my table showing the second (bottom inside level) level of my table. The inside playing surface is 6" deep and cal be separated on the inside by plexiglass sheets.
And here's a Dwarven Forge Master Maze set up using the inside of my game table!
So.. What do YOU think? Would you like to have something like this in YOUR home??
