X-Wing Miniatures: DISCUSSIONS.
Hello everyone! I'm bringing up a new series of War gaming news and information as created by me. These will be topics and new release discussions and their content on various game systems and products. They will be hopefully informative and maybe answer questions that you may have.
This week's topic: IG -2000 Aggressor for Scum and Villainy faction for X-Wing ™ Miniatures plus 1.
One of the MOST talked about ship release from the new faction is the IG -2000.
This is a large ship that boasts 12 upgrade cards, 4 unique pilots, and perhaps the most talked about feature... the new ship move: Segnor’s Loop!! Plus all the ship tokens, bomb tokens, and rules needed to play this expansion.
The movement dial is very versatile! Capable of full range of 1's and 2's (no red maneuvers!) and solid green even on 3's! Red moves are its Segnor’s Loop 3' s and a single 4 K turn. What it is lacking in, though, is distance. This ship is not designed for a fast attack or speed chase... It's designed to gain position by out maneuvering and can unleash a LOT of firepower.
SEGNORS LOOP: Ok.. This is an awesome ability! It's a K turn (180 degree) but not on a straight away... on a 3 Bank left or right! Talk about getting into position. This allows you to get out of line of sight from an enemy ship fire and puts their ship in yours! Granted it does stress our your robot pilot so keep that in mind.
Next up... upgrades! This ship doesn't disappoint. So many cannons, bombs and torpedos! But I want to talk about the "Mangler Cannon", "Accuracy Correction" and the "IG -2000" title card.
The MANGLER CANNON will probably be an auto include on many ships now. It comes with a lofty 4 points but it has a fire power of 3 dice at range 1-3!! Attack: 1 ship. When attacking, you may change 1 of your normal hits to critical.
This is huge! Normally.. Most upgrades are for either close range of 1 or only 2-3. Mangler Cannon is a 1-3!
ACCURACY CORRECTION: When attacking, cancel all your dice results. Then you may add 2 normal hits to your roll. Your dice cannot be modified again during this attack.
This card is a guarantee dice hitter! Yeah.. the enemy can still evade. But thunk about all those ships with only 1 Evade roll. That's a guarantee damage.
IG -2000 Title. Ok.. This card enables you to SHARE pilot abilities with every ship that has this upgrade! While you'd normally only be able to take 2 of these in a normal 100 point game.... Epic Play you could field all 4!
AUTOTHRUSTERS: ok.. This is the +1. This card does NOT come with IG -2000 but does come in the Star Viper expansion. This card is perhaps the SINGLE MOST INFLUENTIAL CARDS OF THIS RELEASE WAVE.
When defending, if you are beyond range 2 or outside the attacker's firing arc, you may change 1 of your blank results to an Evade result. You can equip this card only if you have the Boost action icon.
Why is this such a huge card? At 2 points, it allows your blank Evade rolls to actually do something. It gives your fragile Interceptors, non shield ships, and glass cannons a change to fight another round. Expect this card in many new lists!
PILOTS: All come in at 36 points with Pilot Skill 6 (perhaps the worst downfall of this ship), 3 attack, 3 Evade, 4 Hull, and 4 shield. Ship has focus, Target Lock, Boost, and Evade. And has 6 upgrade slots!!! This ship is is a beast!!
IG 88A. Perhaps the weakest of the 4, the A allows you to recover 1 shield after your attack destroys a defender. A good pilot but I don't expect this much unless in Epic play.
IG 88B. Here he is! The iconic bounty hunter assassin from the movies! Also perhaps the best pilot here. Once per round, after performing an attack that does not hit, you may perform an attack with an equipped cannon secondary weapon! This upgrade usually costs you 4 points (iirc) but here its free! Simply put... This allows for some huge fire power and has the potential to take down large ships fast.
IG 88C: After you perform a boost action, you may perform a free Evade action. I can see C being used often and in tandem with B. Great card.
IG 88D. Perhaps the 2nd best pilot here! You may execute the Segnor’s Loop using left and right 3 HARD BANKS (90 degrees) instead of the 45 degree normal banks. THIS IS A HUGE maneuverability asset! This allows you to move out of enemy line of sight, flips your ship around, and puts their ship in yours!!
Now... do you see why taking the IG-2000 Title card is great!? You can combine these pilot skills together!
