It's FINALLY been announced! Introducing the next ship release from Fantasy Flight... WAVE 7 for X-Wing Miniatures!
At a recent game convention, Fantasy Flight had on-display some of their newest models (both just released and yet-to-be released). They showed the Wave 6 Scum and Villiany models (StarViper, IG-2000 Agressor, M-3A Interceptor) as well as the UNRELEASED Wave 7 ships: Tie Punisher, Hounds Tooth (Bossk's Ship!), Kihraxz Fighter, and the K-WIng!!
Here's what we know SO FAR:
Tie Punisher
Attack: 2
Agility: 1
Hull: 6
Shields: 3
(Target lock, focus, boost)
To me, the Empire doesn't need MORE good ships! Coming in at 6 Hull and 3 Shields.. this ship looks to be a tank with manueverability - boost! The Attack and Agility are right on-par with the rest of the TIE family. The pilots and ship costs have yet to be disclosed on this or any other Wave 7 as of yet. This ship seems to be the TIE Interdictor:
The TIE/IT Interdictor starfighter, also known as the Advanced TIE Bomber, was a heavy bomber in service to the Galactic Empire.
The Galactic Empire's TIE Interdictor bomber had wings and a command module which were nearly identical to those found on a TIE/sa bomber. However, the command module was flanked by two twin ordnance pods, for a total of four pods. The ship was piloted by one individual, and was equipped with shields. The armor was stronger than other TIE models, but the craft does not include a hyperdrive. The TIE Interdictor was armed with linked light laser cannons and ordinance pods, able to carry concussion missiles or proton torpedos, and twin linked versions of the TIE/sa bomber's proton bomb bays.
The TIE Interdictors were used by the Empire during the Galactic Civil War. The Interdictor was developed as an advanced TIE model following the Battle of Yavin. The craft was to be used in assault missions where Star Destroyers could not venture, and have earned an effective reputation as they hunt Rebel bases. Three of them attacked the Rebel's Massassi Station during the evacuation of Yavin, although they were destroyed by concussive charges placed by General Jan Dodonna. During the attack on Cloud City in 3 ABY, eight bombers were sent in as support units to occupy the city.
Several months later, at least one TIE Interdictor was still present along with other Imperial forces at a Kessel Detention Center. The Detention Centers were subsequently liberated by Wookiee forces.
HOUNDS TOOTH
Attack: 3
Agility: 1
Hull: 6
Shields: 6
(Target lock, focus)
The ship that bounty hunter Bossk uses in the original trilogy, this ship is VERY tanky and seems adequately packed with firepower. At 6 Hull and 6 Shields, this Scum and Villainy ship will most likely be the last surviving ship on your side as compared to the other ships in the faction. Although a very weak agility defense, what may be it's keeper is the pilots. It can take a beating but it WILL take a beating too. This ship seems that it should have several upgrade options as just a Target Lock and Focus seem pretty stale in comparison to a tank's role.
The Hound's Tooth was a modified Corellian Engineering Corporation YV-666 light freighter owned by the Trandoshan bounty hunter and slaver Bossk. Bossk acquired the ship after Han Solo and Chewbacca destroyed his former ship on Gandolo IV.
The exterior was smooth and rounded, with an elongated, rectangular hull originally meant for cargo transport. The ship also had a three-deck design and was protected by shields and reinforced armor.
The Hound's Tooth's main deck contained Bossk's private quarters, a training chamber, an armory and an advanced medical bay. Its aft section was modified into a prison equipped with a series of magnetically reinforced holding cages which were connected to a force-field generator activated by motion sensors in the event a breakout took place. The prison also had a skinning table for skinning Wookiee captives, his trophy collection and interrogation devices.
The command bridge was situated on top of the main hull and provided access to all the Hound's Tooth's systems. Its cockpit was equipped with a monitor bank which relayed information from hidden sensor screens, allowing the Trandoshan to monitor the entire vessel. The vessel also had an interior scanning system for monitoring cargo, motion sensors which were linked to neural stunners, sub-q injectors and shock panels, and voice-recognition security systems which prevented unauthorized access of the ship's ramp. These included anti-personnel blasters, a durasteel net and an electrocution array.
The bottom deck contained the Hound's Tooth's engines, power core, and weapons systems. The vehicle's armament were a turret-mounted quad-laser cannon, a secondary ion cannon, and a forward-firing concussion missile launcher that carried up to six missiles. A scout ship, Nashtah Pup, was stored in the interior for emergency operations. The Hound's Tooth was later stolen by Tinian I'att Azur-Jamin and Chenlambec. However, Bossk eventually retrieved his ship, even though Boba Fett would later steal it as well.
Hound's Tooth schematics.
Its propulsion system was simple though it gave the Hound's Tooth a considerable amount of maneuverability despite its size. Its standard ion engines generated thrust while a pair of long maneuvering fins linked to the engines provided vertical movement. Two main drive nozzles between the fins of the vessel controlled turning.
The onboard systems were controlled by a X10-D droid brain that was capable of responding to verbal commands from anywhere on the ship. It also controlled most of the Hound's Tooth's systems including weapons and security. The bridge and Bossk's private quarters also featured datalinks connected with the droid brain.
Kihraxz Fighter
Attack: 3
Agility: 2
Hull: 4
Shields: 1
(Target lock, focus
Introducing the Kihraxz! This Scum ship bears enough to be a medium fighter with just the stats alone. Originally meant as a light-starfighter, this ship has enough survivability to hopefully take out enemy fighters that would be swarming your IG-2000's and Hounds Tooths and harass the glass cannons to make them think twice on a frontal charge. It's not a Phantom stopper by any means.. but it's slightly better built than the Z-95's. The movement dial will make or break this ship in my opinion.
The Kihraxz assault fighter, also known as the Kihraxz light fighter, was a light starfighter developed specifically for Black Sun during the reign of the Galactic Empire. While intended for the criminal organization, many Kihraxz starfighters found their way into the hands of various independent fringers.
Several popular variants of the Kihraxz assault fighter.
A custom TransGalMeg Industries, Incorporated design, the Kihraxz reflected the popular design of the Incom X-wing starfighter's fuselage. At the nose were a pair of stabilizer fins and two wings sprung from the center of the fuselage. Under each wing was a large sublight engine that provided the main thrust, and a third maneuverability engine was mounted on the stern of the frame.
Outside of those characteristics, few Kihraxz starfighters were the same due to heavy customization and after-market kits, although all variations were light on armor plating and weapons systems but high on speed compared to other TransGalMeg starfighter designs of the same period.
An improved version of this fighter was the Vaksai.
K-Wing
Attack: 2
Agility: 1
Hull: 5
Shields: 4
(Target lock, focus, and a new action)
This ship appears to be another tank. Average to weak attack and a lowly 1 Agility, it's no wonder it needs 5 Hull and 4 Shields! BUT.. what we don't know yet is the new action this ship will be getting! Target Lock usually means upgrade missle and torpedo options. We'll see about this one.. the firepower simply looking at the picture just screams variety!
The BTL-S8 K-wing assault starfighter, commonly known as the K-wing, was a heavy starfighter/bomber.
The K-wing assault starfighter was produced by Koensayr Manufacturing, the same company responsible for producing the venerable Y-wing. Like many other New Republic starfighters, the K-wing was designed to excel in a specific primary role in combat while retaining the flexibility to serve secondary functions if needed.
The K-wing starfighter's primary missions included precision bombing of planetary targets, slow-moving capital ships, and spaceborne installations. It also performed secondary missions as an escort or reconnaissance ship.
Battle of Doornik-319
K-wings during the Battle of Doornik-319.
The hull design of the K-wing consisted of two primary wings attached to a fixed stabilizer. The two main ion engines located at the junction between the wings and stabilizer allowed the K-wing to achieve a sublight speed similar to the Y-wing, despite its larger size.
An additional engine mounted along the centerline on the aft dorsal section of the stabilizer allowed the fighter to accelerate rapidly in short bursts, much like the SLAM system found on the Imperial Missile Boat. Unfortunately, the K-wing had no hyperdrive capability, and was always deployed from a capital ship.
To fulfill its role in the New Republic Defense Fleet, the K-wing carried an unusually large arsenal for a vessel of its size. The hull had a total of 18 hard points, five on each upper wing and four on each lower wing, to allow technicians to arm the ship with a large variety of weapons including flechétte and concussion missiles, proton and other sublight torpedoes, thermal and other inertial bombs, small space mines, and T-33 plasma torpedoes.
When attacked by enemy fighters, the K-wing could return fire with a short-range quad turbolaser turret with multi-stage lasers located at the fore and a medium-range twin laser cannon turret mounted on the top of its command module. Also, the K-wing could be outfitted with slugthrower cannons on the hardpoints for additional short-range firepower. Like most New Republic fighters, it was also equipped with a deflector shield.
Due to its large weapons loadout, the K-wing required a bombardier. The pilot and gunner sat in cockpits on either side of the command section. In case of emergency, this module was able to detach from the rest of the ship to serve as an escape pod.
So there you have it! And here's once more a quick run-down of their stats:
