A fortification Network that can now be made.
From Stronghold Assault pg 32
1-3 Void Shield Generators
1-3 Promethium Relay Pipes
0-1 Honoured Imperium
Void Shield generator 50p
Impassible Building, AV 13
Projected Void Shield, can project 2 more void shields 25pe
Can take obstacles
The actual dimensions of a VSG, or at least the footprint, is effectively identical to an imperial Bastion.
Count this as a Medium building, giving it 4 HP
Prometheum Relay Pipes 40p
Up to 3 long and 4 short pipe sections
Battlefield Debris
Fuel Pipes: models behind the pipes have 4+ cover save. Each time they make that save of 6, roll another d6. On a 1, the unit takes d6 S4 AP5 hits that ignore cover.
Fuel Siphon: non-vehicle flamers within 2" can change their weapon type from assault/pistol to heavy gaining Torrent
May take obstacles
The Void Shield generators are easy enough to Proxy, in this context, their actual size is not critical. There are a handful of proxy designs available.
The pipelines are easy enough to proxy as well, but the new kit that appeared in White Dwarf appears to come with the maximum count of pipes, giving physical precedent to what counts as long and short.
WIth 2 long pipes you can get 3 VSG connected very close together, creating overlapping shield bubbles. maxing out at 9 bubbles. I daunting number, but tricky to formulate.
Each shield has a 12" radius measured from the base of the VSG, with the intended base being apx 6x6" gets a 30x30" rounded square area.
If you wanted to spread the shields around to cover multiple emplacements or batteries across the table, you may need a second set of pipes. A third set of pipes gives you more distance.
I'd never suggest fielding these pipes as a cover option. even though any combination of 1-7 pipes counts as 40p.
So you might as well put them all on the table and use what you can.
And building a strategy around bunkering flamers behind pipes is not much good either, unless you're talking about a burn boy defense team, in which case, go for it and dakka up!
But ultimately the point of the network is to get 3 void shield generators in on 1 Fortification slot. And there is no good reason to ever not take all 3 shields on a generator.
THe Honoured imperium just adds stubborn
So the max price tag, without obstacles is (100x3)+(40x3)=420 points
Obstacles: each counts as being a 6" section, can be up to 6" away from their fortification, can have up to 6 sections in any combination
Tanglewire 5pe: 6+ cover save
Barricades 10pe: 4+ cover save
Tank Traps 15pe: impassible terrain to non-skimmers. Dangerous terrain to bikes. 4+ cover save
