Core book pg 169 If a vehicle does not move Flat Out or use Smoke Launchers, the vehicle can Fire 1 more weapon than normal at full BS. That weapon can be fired at different target.
This is a compound rule that defines vehicles like Land Raiders and Stormraven Gunships. It almost guarantees that a vehicle will get one good weapon salvo off while cruising across the table. And adding the effects of Split fire allow the vehicle a greater amount of flexibility.
Units with this Special Rule Land Raider (all) Stormraven Gunship Stormfang Gunship Stormwolf more?
There has been some curious questions on the wording and what the rule will let you do. Does it give your vehicle more attacks than it would otherwise get? no Does it let you ignore things like crew shaken or stunned? Ambiguity Does it let you ignore a flyer's Hard to Hit, getting around Skyfire? no Does it let you split fire one weapon? yes Does it let the vehicle get around the movement based snap shots? yes. getting you 2 at combat speed or 1 at cruising speed.
Does it still count as a Snap Shot if it's made a full ballistic skill? According to the core book, nothing can modify a snap shot from BS 1 or a roll of 6. But with the Cognis weapons flouting that there is specific rules for that. However, then what does the rule do if it can't change snap shots? There's a Tiere of permissive and restrictive general and advanced rules stacking on each other. Specifically when it comes to getting the full BS bonus after being shaken, stunned or having jinked.
General practice is to always allow for at least one weapon to be fired at full BS but not at flyers unless it has Skyfire.
